The first of The Jam’s greatest hits collections, Snap! contains an irresistible mix of hits and album tracks that continues to delight fans old and new.
While the album originally hit stores in 1983, just a year after the band’s break-up, this is the better re-release and boasts 30 superbly remastered tracks spread across two CDs.
Containing fistfuls of hit singles and fan favourites, Snap! is one of The Jam’s most definitive compilations. Like Compact Snap!, it boasts all the band’s hit singles, plus much more in the way of album tracks, taking in the band’s entire lifespan from 1977 to 1982.
Including the single versions of seminal songs like ‘The Modern World’, ‘The Eton Rifles’ and ‘Start!’, it also throws in a few rarities, including a demo version of ‘That’s Entertainment’, a remixed edit of ‘Funeral Pyre’ and the US mix of ‘Dreams Of Children’, the tripped out psych-rock flipside to ‘Going Underground’.
With thoughtfully chosen album tracks like ‘Thick As Thieves’ and ‘Man In the Corner Shop’, this is indisputably one of the finest greatest hits collections around.
