Intimacy Remixed is a reworked version of Bloc Party's third studio album. The album features remixes by Mogwai, No Age, Filthy Dukes and Armand Van Helden. Album opener “Ares (Villains Remix)” teases sliding guitar crunches over a pulsating, grinding beat complete with synth layers and percussion. Mogwai's remix of "Biko" is reflective of its heavy lyrical subject, with electronic blips, beat syncopation, punctuated echoes and haunting vocals all layered over a hypnotic rhythm. The rock-fused “Better Than Heaven (No Age Remix)” and the hazy aura of “Ion Square (Banjo Or Freakout Remix)” demonstrate that Intimacy Remixed moves comfortably in numerous eclectic musical directions, yet retains the essence and significance of the original recordings.
Drawing inspiration from Joy Division, Sonic Youth, The Cure and Gang of Four, East London's Bloc Party mix acute sonic experiments with structures of pop. The band consists of Kele Okereke on vocals and guitar, lead guitarist - Russell Lissack, Gordon Moakes on bass and Matt Tong on drums. Once known as Angel Range and Union, the collective settled with the name Bloc Party in 2003.
