Proving that the success of Beautiful World was no flash in the pan, Take That’s 2008 follow-up, The Circus, stormed to the top of the UK charts, notching up the band’s fifth Number One album and breaking records as the fastest-selling album of the 21st century.
A heady mix of the heart-wrenching ballads and singalong anthems that Take That are the undisputed masters of, The Circus proved a total triumph for the reformed band. And it was also another example of the band’s newly collaborative tack, with singing duties shared out between the band’s members. The band briefly considered changing the album’s title after Britney Spears released an album, also called The Circus, on the same day but decided against it.
