Morrissey performed to 17,183 of his faithful fans at London's Earls Court in December 2004, displaying true energy and passion. He feeds off the crowds adoration, happy in the knowledge that he has enjoyed his most successful solo year to date. With belting renditions of past and present glories, the atmosphere is clearly electric and marked a stellar end to a spectacular year.
When it comes to live performance, nobody does it better. With his natural strut and showman's swagger, Morrissey has the audience in the palm of his hand: old Smiths songs were dragged into the 21st century, with the Joan of Arc in 'Bigmouth Strikes Again' now having a melting iPod rather than a Walkman. But it's not only the lyrical content that's been updated. All manner of songs are given a fresh treatment, whether it's a beefing up or stripping down. Even the B-sides sound immense.
