Having taken time out from her band, Texas, in 2008 to explore writing and performing as a solo artist and draw on her wide range of musical influences, Sharleen's first album, Melody pays homage to '60s Motown and the likes of Burt Bacharach and Phil Spector while maintaining a freshness and originality that gives Melody an almost timeless feel.
A moment of impulsiveness and inspiration precipitated Sharleen's return in 2010 with The Movie Songbook. As Sharleen admits herself, "The Movie Songbook happened by accident but I’m very pleased, and very proud, it did... In the past I've always tended to go into a soul area but this experience has been great in taking me places I'd never normally go. It’s been a valuable lesson in other styles and new ways of working."
