As Paul Weller proved with both Wild Wood and Live Wood, it's live incarnation, that he was more than capable of stepping out from The Jam and holding his own in the solo sphere. Live Wood is Wild Wood and more - with some superlative covers thrown in for good measure.

While albums Paul Weller and Wild Wood clearly showed that he could talk the talk as a solo artist, Live Wood proved he could walk the walk too. Recorded at various concerts from the 1993/94 tour, his first live album captures the essence and dynamic wonder of performing on stage.

Backed by his band, who recreate that instantly identifiable drum-and-guitar whimsy which Paul made his own in the 90s, he channels everyone from the Small Faces and Traffic to Nick Drake and Marvin Gaye. With such a tight-knit band, Paul performs songs from the last two albums, some rarer tunes and a smattering of covers from his ever-present influences, The Who's 'Magic Bus' being an opening highlight. This is a live album produced at the height of Paul's creativity. "Everything was on the up" he said at the time. And up he continued to soar.
