Eat Me Drink Me sees Marilyn Manson in their most melodic mode to date. A mid-tempo selection that sees the band experimenting with heavy rock and electronica (though their trademark controversy remains the same), it features 'If I Was Your Vampire' and 'Heart-Shaped Glasses'.

Eat Me Drink Me was recorded in California, produced by Marilyn Manson and band guitarist Tim Skold. Manson worked his melodies around Skold's existing compositions. Recorded quickly, Manson had previously been distracted by his film Phantasmagoria, opening an art gallery, personal troubles, and disillusionment with the music industry. However, he reveals: "This is the record I was always meant to make that I never did before. I'm not sure if this record is very American specifically. It's probably the most autobiographical. The centre point is about wanting to find a connection."
