The Fratellis' 'A Heady Tale' is a piano driven foot stomper and finds the band in solid singalong territory, unlike the B-side, 'Lonesome Anti-Christmas Blues', a downbeat affair providing the perfect antidote to average Christmas cheese.

'A Heady Tale' is taken from the Fratellis' second album, Here We Stand, and, not unlike The Who during their 1970s pub rock heyday in sound, proved a further shift from the terraces towards the big rock stadiums for the band. "Catchy pop songs, that's what we're about but this time we're heavier," insists Jon Fratelli.

"If I was in another band and I heard 'A Heady Tale' on the radio, I'd be seriously jealous." 'A Heady Tale' was limited to just one thousand CD copies and was accompanied by 'Lonesome Anti-Christmas Blues', described as "the most depressing Christmas song written", which took the band in another direction completely.
