After a two-year break, Texas' Careful What You Wish For dished up a welcome serving of their signature soul-filled pop, alongside a fistful of more radical musical collaborations, and scored the band their fourth Top Five UK album in a row.
Bringing the Texas brand of timeless pop bang up to date, Careful What You Wish For, with its fearless experimentation, marked an extreme departure for the band.
A much more collaborative affair than their previous albums, this 12-track disc saw the band hooking up with urban acts like Canadian MC Kardinal Offishall who added his flow on 'Carnival Girl', and members of London-based dancehall crew, Suncycle, who feature on 'Carousel Dub' and 'Place In My World'.
What's more, in contrast to that street-smart flavour, the album also features two tracks co-written with award-winning songsmith Guy Chambers, the smoky ballad 'I'll See It Through' and the anthem of the two- timed, 'Where Did You Sleep?'.
And to top of the collaborative theme, production duties come courtesy of button-twiddling luminaries, Trevor Horn and ex-Lightning Seed, Ian Broudie.
