‘Rule The World’ was written specially for the film Stardust and released in October 2007. It peaked at the Number Two spot in the UK before spending 69 weeks in the official UK Top 75 chart, making it the third longest runner of all time.

‘Rule The World’ was written after the band were approached by Stardust’s director. Gary describes the song’s creation like this: ‘That was the coolest thing. Mark got a call from the director Matthew Vaughn. He wanted to show us his new film, Stardust, with a view to us writing a song for it. We were amazed for two hours by this magical movie. We were so buzzed we wrote the song in about and hour and a half. What a day!’
