The first single to be released from the album, The Circus, ‘Greatest Day’ promptly became the group's eleventh Number One single upon its release in November 2008. According to Gary, ‘It was obvious from the day we wrote it that it was going to be the first single.’

The video for ‘Greatest Day’ saw the band performing on top of a 60-storey high skyscraper in downtown LA, circled by helicopters. The promo’s location was dictated by the fact that the band were already in LA mixing the single’s final edit.
