Not to be mistaken for the movie of the same name, the Some Kind Of Monster EP is light on group therapy but heavy on full-throttle Metallica. Recorded on 11th June 2003, at a Parisian gig, it features a host of thrash classics and well-loved fan favourites from the band's early albums, all performed in with their trademark live ferocity.
While the Some Kind Of Monster movie captured Metallica at their lowest ebb, the EP that shares its name finds them doing what they do best, namely blowing the roof off with a fury-filled live performance. Taking in Master Of Puppets ('Damage Inc', 'Leper Messiah'), St Anger ('Some Kind Of Monster'), Ride The Lightning (title track) and Kill 'Em All ('The Four Horsemen', 'Motorbreath', 'Hit The Lights'), this is a rip roaring ride through the jaw-dropping back catalogue of hard rock's biggest band.
