Turning their back on their poppier roots,The Killers brought their own slant to bear on classic American rock on Sam’s Town. The album spawned the huge singles, ‘Read My Mind’ and ‘When We Were Young’, shot straight to the Number One spot in the UK, and went on to sell a cool four million copies.
Proving The Killers’ ability to evolve, Sam’s Town marked a startling change in direction. Leaving behind the 80’s-influenced vibes of Hot Fuss, this second album instead embraced the sound of Americana with its big guitars and anthemic rock outs. It has since become established as a firm fan favourite.
