Main criticism is that cd won't rip from Windows media player without manual imput of track data!

Sonfs are good, with Amy's power and energy coming through just as in her earlier CD. Some are excellent, but many sound too similar.

Really liked the bonus live album. New album has too much supporting music that makes her voice and lyrics harder to listen to, should be toned down a level. Saying that, Amy's vocals is pretty much the same in every track, she needs to bring more variety into her vocals.

She should be huge but thanks to moronic dj's here in the UK shel find it hard, so much fabulaous music here never gets a look in, and, from a channel that should care about this subject, channel 4, their trendy band competitions only serve presenters egoes and not music, I site the case on The Rays as just one example, destroyed by moronic comments from judges on the orange unsigned competition. This CD is certainly a must have for those that care about talented musicions

The only minus of this product is its carton cover, CD's are very tight in it and without touching the playing side of the CD it is impossible to get the CD out, A more sturdy holder should have been better

This is a great album easily as good as her debut. Slight change in musical stye with more of a rock edge and an excellent cover version of Bruce Springsteens Dancing in the Dark. Amy's vocals are very distinctive and set her apart from many other female singer/songwriters. The lyrical content is still as good as that off This is the life.

This is just a brilliant album...a bit different from her debut album but not so different that you wonder if its the same person who released it. So refreshing also to see a young artist succeeding becuase of her talent and ability to write and sing great songs rather than because of her stupid stage antics or flashing her body at every opportunity. All the songs are catchy and well-written, you really cannot fault this record.

I think that Amy's enhanced studio production here on [what's seemingly notoriously considered an Artist's "difficult 2nd Album] really projects her vocal & lyrical depth to the fore & to life, again [even more so than on "This is the Life"] be it at home, in the car [particularly on a sunny afternoon] or through headphones [possibly the best, intimate format]. At least 6-7 'stand-out' tracks... "Well Done" Amy... you certainly are a 'Spark' = thanks for all that this album brings. The Dec-09 Live Barrowlands CD is a "right bonus" too. I'm just totally looking forward to your band's live performances in April of these standout tracks alongside the rockers from "This is the Life"... what a gig[s] in prospect that is = roll on April!

This is a great album, the single 'Dont Tell Me That It's Over' is catchy and clever. 'Love Love', 'An Ordinary Life', 'This Pretty Face', and 'What Happiness Means To Me' are all well-written and sing-along-able. The whole album is upbeat and a great listen.

Amy's second album shows a great maturity in her writing. The only letdown for me is that the album sounds over produced with too much going on instrument wise. You only have to listen to her acoustic version of Springsteen's "Dancing In The Dark" to hear how the album would have sounded if more focus was made featuring her acoustic guitar but overall a great second album. The songs still shine through

Album number 2 and Amy is still sticking with what she knows; using everyday experiences to inspire her writing. Whilst melody and lyrics are on track, the overall album does feel as if it is unpolished or unfinished. This may have been the feel that they were going for but it does leave the listener feeling awkward. The album is a natural progression but it may leave fans divided as there is a completely different feel from This Is The Life.

The second disc is a nice little addition to the piece and to hear the concert in full. Nice little reminder for those that were there and a chance for others to experience it

We were lucky enough to see Amy at the ICA when she previewed many of the songs before the album release. One of the best concerts we have attended (we have attended 200+). Cannot wait for the next one at Shephers Bush and to hear the songs live again.

Bought and paid for this well before it was released as it was offering a Signed Copy, well instead i first got an e-mail saying a copy was sent out without the signature, and a signed booklet would be sent on after. Then i got another e-mail shortly after saying 'disregard' the last e-mail you will be getting it. Then when it come it was a sealed pack with a 'thrown in signed booklet' included. So was not happy with this service and will be aware of any other future SCAMS next time, hope Amy MacDonald was informed with this Balls-up Scam

it's that difficult second album,how to follow up a multi million selling debut.amy pulls it off with aplomb,whilst some of the songs are not as instantly memorable as most of the tracks on this is the life,it is most certainly a grower.I have played the album about 6 times now and i absolutely love it.well done Amy 8 out of 10.

I admire Amy Macdonald and loved her first album, This is the Life. However, I felt A Curious Thing did not match the upbeat, happy, pondering beat her first album had. It will take a while to get used to and hopefully I will get to like. The lyrics are very clever, what you expect from Amy, but it takes a while to get the beat and rhythm of the song. Having said that, I'm looking forward to seeing her perform at Colston Hall. She is undoubtedly a brilliant singer/songwriter and I felt this album did not bring out the best in her.

After now listening to the complete album I now hear the real Amy coming out, not from the expected music of the single release but from songs such as No Roots and Troubled Soul inspired.

Not a complete album but a step forward to greater things, much more to come I feel, a future star is now maturing.

After a two year wait at last a second album. After listening to the six free tracks a more polished production, than the raw innocent Amy of the past it would seem very safe styled mature recording.

A transition then, hoping that the other songs on the album reflect more of the Amy of two years ago, that excites and inspires.
